The Laundry Open Cup

September 7, 2024 - The inaugural Laundry Open Cup street soccer tournament was contested on a perfect summer day at King School Park in Northeast Portland.

A chippy, round-robin group stage narrowed the field of eight teams to four, with neighborhood club PCFC rallying from behind to defeat Laundry FC 2-1 in a tense semifinal.

Capachos FC, the side from Venezuela, proved chemistry matters, storming to a pair of five-goal victories (7-2, 9-4) in the semis and championship match.

The crowd erupted into cheers as the team wearing full Arsenal kit charged the court in jubilation, and lifted the trophy and giant winner’s check in the gathering sunset.
